VERONA — The New York State Department of Transportation, the Oneida County Sherriff’s Department, the Oneida Indian Nation Police and the Turning Stone Resort and Casino have coordinated efforts to manage traffic for the upcoming Turning Stone Resort Championship next week.
The PGA Tour event will run from Monday, Aug. 2 through Sunday, Aug. 8 at the Atunyote Golf Club on State Route 31 and is expected to draw approximately 40,000 to 50,000 people to the area.
Due to this, delays are possible on SR 365 between Patrick Road and SR 31 in the town of Verona; SR 31 between SR 5 in Vernon and SR 365 in the town of Verona; SR 5 at the intersection of SR 31 in Vernon, and Thruway Exit 33 in Verona.
Traffic is expected to be the heaviest for the first round of the tournament on Thursday up until Sunday at the championship’s conclusion.
Motorists are urged to be alert and use caution when traveling on these routes and to pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including traffic signals, signs NYSDOT personnel and police officials.
The NYSDOT and the Turning Stone Resort and Casino will also have special signs in place to guide motorists to the event site and parking areas.
